A Roaring Good Time in Yerevan

The Ararat Valley Country Club in Vahakni went through a fabulous time warp last night after it hosted OneArmenia’s The Golden Twenties fundraising gala. A worthy cause (all the proceeds go to building a greenhouse in Tavush) plus a reason to relive one of the most fabulous decades in history? I wouldn’t miss it. The chosen hall couldn’t have been any more perfect, with its shiny birdcage chandeliers and fancy canopy chairs. But it was the guests (sorry boys, mainly the girls) that really dressed to impress with their over-the-top outfits. There was no shortage of sequins, feathers, fringe, and glamorous headbands. Women here sure know how to get dolled up. Live jazz by a stunning singer named Marbey (Marine Hakobyan) filled up the room as guests sipped on their delicious “The Billionaire Cocktail.” And with smoking allowed inside in Armenia, it really did feel like the ’20s. There was even a silver Bentley parked out front — swanky! Yerevan definitely knows how to party right. Here are the highlights:
